When: Monday, July 15, 2013 at 7:00-8:00 p.m. Arrive early (6:30) for dinner.
Event/Program: TU’s National Coordinator of the Veterans Service Partnership, Alan Folger of Hendersonville, NC, will introduce the Veteran Service Program (VSP) to our membership during the upcoming chapter meeting on July 15th.
Alan got involved in the Asheville Project Healing Waters program about 6 years ago and it changed his life. He wasn’t sure if he was getting involved as a disabled vet or a volunteer, but it didn’t matter. He found his passion, and that passion led to his leadership of the VSP.
With 100 TU chapters currently participating in the program, our members are bringing the sport we love to the veterans that have given so much to secure our freedoms. Across the country our members work with amputees, with veterans suffering with PTSD – the invisible wound of war, soldiers with traumatic brain injuries and other disabilities.
Alan will present a brief program to introduce our members to the VSP, which will be followed by a Q&A session. Alan is driving down from near Asheville, NC, so lets give him a rousing ORCTU welcome.
