Event/Program: The ORCTU Trout in the Classroom program has been a great success, with students in two middle school classrooms raising rainbow trout from eggs to fry large enough to be released in approved trout waters. As part of the program, students learn ecology, biology, water chemistry and an appreciation for the environment. The classrooms are in Clarke County’s Burney Harris Lyons and Walton County’s Youth Middle School. The teachers from those classrooms, Tommy Hope and Melissa Palm will be our featured speakers at the August meeting. We will also have a report on this year’s trout camp from our ORCTU camper, Tom Eskew. This should be a great program and if any members know a classroom teacher, who would be interested in learning about our programs, please invite them to attend.
Where: Loco’s Grill & Pub Meeting Room: Eastside Location. 1985 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens.
